Why East Yorkshire isfamiliar ground for us

East Yorkshire sits immediately east of our Thorne, Doncaster base: the M18/M62 and A614 put Goole, Howden and the surrounding low-lying areas within a short drive, making this one of the quickest parts of the region for us to reach.

Where we work in East Yorkshire

East Yorkshire is effectively next door. Thorne sits at the western edge of the Humberhead levels, so the flat country running east towards the Ouse, the Humber and the Wolds is close, familiar ground. We work it regularly for both pitched and flat roofing.

Getting to East Yorkshire

Because of the geography this is one of the fastest areas for us to attend. Calls are answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week by Jamie, and an urgent leak in the nearer parts of East Yorkshire can often be looked at the same day rather than sitting under a bucket for a week.

Property types in East Yorkshire

The area is a mix of clay-pantiled brick housing, post-war semis and bungalows, dormer bungalows with substantial flat roof areas, agricultural and light-industrial buildings, and modern estate housing. Bungalows and dormers matter here: they carry a high proportion of flat roof and low-pitch area relative to their footprint, so flat roofing specification has a bigger effect on the building than it does on a two-storey terrace.

What East Yorkshire calls us for

Wind-damaged ridges and verges after gales off the open levels, lifted and cracked pantiles, dormer and extension flat roofs at the end of their felt life, guttering that cannot cope with the volume from a low-pitch roof, and full re-roofs on properties where thirty or forty years of exposure has finished off the battens and the underlay together.

Why Roofserve

Why people in East Yorkshireuse us twice

One of our nearest working areas

Thorne to the East Yorkshire border is a short drive. Shorter travel means quicker attendance, easier return visits, and no padding of the quote for a two-hour round trip.

Specified for exposure

On open, wind-driven sites we use mechanical fixings, correct lead codes and dry-fix detailing where it is warranted, rather than relying on mortar that the next gale will find.

Accredited Resitrix EPDM installation

Bungalows, dormers and extensions across the area carry a lot of flat roof. Resitrix EPDM installed by an accredited installer carries a 20-year manufacturer guarantee: a different proposition to re-felting every decade.

Payment held back until you are happy

Three-stage payment on larger jobs, and the balance only taken at the end. £2m public liability and £10m employers' liability insurance throughout.

Local roof problems

What actually goes wrongon East Yorkshire roofs

Wind exposure on flat, open ground

The Humberhead levels and the land running towards the estuary are flat and largely treeless, so wind arrives at full strength with nothing to break it. Uplift concentrates at the roof edges, verges, ridges, eaves and the perimeter of flat roofs. Failures here are typically mechanical: a verge losing its mortar bedding, a ridge tile lifting, or a felt flat roof peeling from its edge trim.

Bungalows and dormers with large flat areas

Dormer cheeks, box dormers and single-storey extensions concentrate a lot of the building's waterproofing into flat and low-pitch surfaces. When felt on those areas fails, water enters directly above habitable rooms. Because the deck sits close to the ceiling there is little room for water to show up somewhere obvious first, so damage is often well advanced by the time a stain appears.

Standing water and poor falls

Low-pitch and flat roofs in the area frequently sit with no meaningful fall, so water ponds instead of draining. Ponding accelerates UV and thermal damage to felt, loads the deck, and finds any weakness at a lap. Correcting falls or re-decking is often the difference between a flat roof that lasts and one that gets patched every other winter.

Volume at the gutter on low-pitch roofs

Shallower pitches shed water faster into the gutter line, and undersized or badly fallen guttering overflows down the wall rather than to the drain. In an area with exposed elevations, that saturates brickwork and shows as internal damp that gets misdiagnosed as a roof leak. Setting the gutter to a correct fall and sizing the downpipes properly fixes the actual cause.

Our process

The same five steps, every job in East Yorkshire

  1. 01

    Call or message Jamie

The phone is answered by Jamie, the owner, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You describe what you can see: a stain on a ceiling, tiles in the garden, a gutter overflowing, and we work out whether it needs a same-week look or an emergency make-safe.

  2. 02

    Free on-site assessment

We come out and get eyes on the actual roof rather than quoting from a photo. Assessments for potential work are free. If you want a full written condition report instead, for a purchase, a dispute or a damp investigation, that is our paid roof survey, priced on enquiry.

  3. 03

    A detailed written quote

You get an itemised quote setting out the materials, the scope and the price. No 'from' pricing, no day-rate creep, no verbal estimate that changes once the scaffold is up. If we find something hidden once the roof is stripped, you are told before any extra work happens.

  4. 04

The work, done by the people who quoted it

Jamie is on site. Access is set up properly, the site is kept tidy, and we work to the scope you signed off. Larger jobs are paid in three stages: a deposit for materials, a stage payment during the work, and the balance at the end.

  5. 05

    Sign-off and guarantee

We walk the finished work with you and the final payment is only taken once you are happy. Full re-roofs carry a 15-year workmanship guarantee; Resitrix EPDM flat roofs carry a 20-year manufacturer guarantee.

Questions answered

East Yorkshireroofing FAQs

Coverage, response times, cost, emergencies and guarantees. Anything not covered here, ring Jamie on 07947 493640 , open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Do you cover East Yorkshire?+

Yes, it is one of our closest working areas from Thorne, Doncaster. Call 07947 493640 with your postcode if you want it confirmed for your specific village or town.

How fast can you reach East Yorkshire?+

The nearer parts are a short drive from our base, so urgent jobs can often be attended the same day. The phone is answered by the owner 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

What does a flat roof cost in East Yorkshire?+

It depends on area, deck condition, insulation, upstands and access. We assess for free and quote in writing with the materials itemised, including whether the existing deck can be overlaid or needs replacing.

Do you offer emergency cover in East Yorkshire?+

Yes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. After a gale we prioritise make-safe work, securing lifted ridges and sheeting exposed areas, before quoting for the permanent fix.

My ridge tiles lift every winter. Can that be stopped permanently?+

Usually yes. Repeated lifting means the bedding has failed along the run. Re-bedding the whole line, or converting to a mechanically fixed dry-ridge system, ends the annual repair instead of resetting the clock on it.

Is EPDM better than felt for a bungalow roof?+

For most flat and low-pitch roofs, yes. Resitrix EPDM is installed by an accredited installer and carries a 20-year manufacturer guarantee, whereas felt typically needs replacing far sooner.

What guarantee comes with a full re-roof?+

A 15-year workmanship guarantee, in addition to whatever the materials carry.

Are you insured?+

Yes, £2,000,000 public liability and £10,000,000 employers' liability insurance.

How do I pay?+

Cash or bank transfer. Larger jobs use a three-stage structure with the final payment taken only once you are satisfied.
